Evaluation Question 5

We have addressed our audience by considering the responses we received from the primary research on audiences we conducted through the survey and created the film so that it appealed to our target audience.

There were killings in the film and this is something our target audience found was engaging in horror films. Killings are an unfortunate natural occurrence which is an example of social realism. But these killings were being carried out by a young 'innocent' girl that is what makes the film so intriguing for our audience as it subverts the typical male killers in horror film. The fact that she is a female already creates a disorientated affect as they're usually the victims but her being a young girl highlights this feeling and makes the audience uneasy.

Our film was set in a house to create the sense of a safe environment in the home. Our audience felt the best horror film setting was an abandoned home setting. So incorporating this we shot most of the film in a home. This would also create a cold atmosphere with our audience because your 'home' is considered the safest place to be so the killings taking place in the home would make our audience feel anxious and startled at the fact that these horrible experiences could take happen in the place you consider safe.

We recorded a voice over which we scripted ourselves and we used it to elaborate on the specific scenes in the film where we felt we met our audiences expectations and discussed the striking elements of the film.
