The choreography was created by 'Britney' herself therefore she knew how essential having high energy was as this would create a strong dance piece. She also made sure that the backing dancers were synchronized with her making the whole dance piece stronger and similar to the original. Originally there was supposed to be five backing dancers but we changed this to two as people weren't reliant enough. But this allowed improvement for the weaker dancers as Joana would be able to coach them and help them become better at the steps as there isn't a lot of people to focus on.
We did come across some problems during the process of shooting and editing. For example with the editing we made a big jump which is quite noticeable in the video due to our lack of time management we had to make that jump cut so that we finished the editing on time. The cut shortened the length of the video but it
didn't take away from the originality of the original clip.
If we were to repeat this task I would definitely film earlier and planned the shooting so that it would suit everyone's schedule. This way the editing would've been done earlier which would've allowed my group and I to have a more clean cut video and less of the repetitiveness.
When our video was shown to our classmates and the rest of our peers the majority reacted to the video positively and some also had some criticisms about it.
The positive feedback we received included our choreography being highly energetic and clean almost on the same levels as the original dance. We also got told that our video was personal and similar to the original, we included a variety of shots especially the tracking shot at the start of the video was effective, the editing effect we used at the end of the video was unique and effective also. The level of energy we had in the video matched the fast pace editing which overall made the video increasingly better.
However we also received negative comments such as the shots being unsteady, the gap that was missing the middle of the clip which created some confusion, mise en scene at the lockers with the bags on the floor this made the scenery more scruffy I presume, the editing was described as jumpy which of course is the case.
The feedback would encourage me to change some aspects of the video. Firstly getting more shots done so that editing is done precisely with all the shots necessary. I would've also given more time to the choreography so that all the dancers were n sync and had the same levels high of energy.
Overall the task was really good. Working with people I don't usually enabled me to gain new ideas and think from a different perspective, also it enjoyable but challenging at the same time.
